Manilyn is 20 years old and separated. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. To earn a living, she owns and manages a banana production business in the local community. She has been with her business for over two years and earns 3,000 PHP every month. She has joined GDMPC in 2011 and now she has requested a loan of 5,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers, such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from this loan to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
