A loan of $775 helped to buy fertilizer and compost for her coffee plantation.

Lilian Esperanza's story

Lilian, 26, is a young, enterprising, tenacious and energetic woman. She is married and has three children that go to school and are in different years. She finished primary school thanks to her parents’ efforts.

Lilian has worked in agriculture for more than fifteen years, an activity that her parents, who have been doing it all their lives, taught her. Lilian and her husband worked hard for a long time in order to buy a piece of land where they now work independently, growing coffee and selling it locally.

Lilian is requesting help to buy fertilizer and compost for her coffee plantation, in order to be able to improve her crops and protect them from the “roya” fungus [leaf rust], a disease that harms and destroys the plants that become ill.

Lilian’s goal is to be able to pay the loan and continue working and improving her plantation. Her dreams, as any other mother’s, is to give her children a better education so that they can have better job opportunities, become entrepreneurial persons and in the future can have their own business and improve their quality of life.
