Charita is 50 years old, married, and has four children. She lives in Tambulig, Misamis Occidental.
She owns farmland where she plants and harvest rice for sale in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over nine years and earns 30,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC in year 2010, and now she has requested a loan of 35,000 PHP to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the loan to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
