Pacita is 67 years old, married, and has seven children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns farmland where she plants and harvest rice for sale in the local community to earn a living. She has been in this business for over 10 years and earns 8,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living and business situation. And now she has requested a loan of 10,000PHP to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
