Bella is 43 years old, married and has two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns a farmland where she plants and harvests rice for sale. She has been in this business for over three years and earns 10,000 PHP every month. She has joined GDMPC in 2009 and now she has requested a loan of 15,000 PHP to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
