Erlinda is 55 years old and married with two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a farmland, planting and harvesting banana for sale in the local community to earn a living. She has been with her business for more than four years and earns 5,000 PHP every month. Erlinda joined GDMPC in 2011. She has requested a loan of 6,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
