She is a very friendly person, hard working and enthusiastic and she dedicates all her energy into getting her son ahead in life, as she is both mother and father to him. Unfortunately due to lack of economic resources and the need to work, Soledad was not able to study the professional nursing career she would have liked. In her free time she likes to spend a little time reading and at times she cooks a delicious rice dish (Chaufa) to share with her family.

With hard work, dedication and thanks to the support of her mother, Soledad works in a small business selling clothes. She sells various items of clothing for women, men and children. She works every day for approximately 10 hours and she thinks it is going well due to her reasonable prices and the kindness with which she treats her customers.

Soledad is very grateful for the Kiva loans, as thanks to the help received she will be able to build a small bathroom. This will be good for her and her family as they will be able to have adequate hygienic facilities, which will give more safety and well-being to them. Soledad will continue working and making an effort to fulfil her dream of extending her business.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
