This is the profile of the client Doña María. She is belongs to the county of Niquinohomo’s, one of the principle counties for the program of the creation of alliances to strengthen the local capacities for the reparation of Nicaragua. She is married and is 54-years-old. She is a teacher and worker in the educational system of the state through which she relies on low wages.

Her nuclear family consists of her husband and her two children that are not adults. Maria is the one that has a fixed income in her family since her husband works on certain occasions when they offer him work as a mason.

At this time she saw the need to get finances to install a inexpensive bathroom. This consists of a commercial grade toilet and the water treatment of plumbing (a reservoir tank and absorption well). They currently have a Porto potty. Her family is one of thousands that does not have access to sanitary facilities. With this project that includes several counties in the country, she would be allowed to make the improvement to her house that she needs so much.

This project is an opportunity for many Nicaraguan that live the reality of not having access to a sanitation system. With her low income it is impossible to install one, but with this system they have the opportunity to set up an improved system for low income families. The current toilets cause sickness and contaminate the area, for this reason the idea was created to have a solution directed to the poorest people.
