Abdallah is a 53-year-old Lebanese married man. He’s living with his wife and only one child who is still studying. He collaborates with his wife in order to pay their child’s study costs. His wife teaches at a local school. As for him, he has owned a sweet factory since 1992. In parallel, he has a small grocery store.
Today, he wants to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to purchase the needed quantity of raw materials such as sugar, flour and many other items. He notes that this will enhance his work and allow him to produce sweets in a bigger quantity. In the future, he plans to open his own pastry operation.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
