Jhon Jairo
Jhon is 35 years old. He ensures his family has a strong foundation, for which he fights daily so that they have a decent life and don't go without. For the past ten years, he has worked independently in the store he built through hard work and the dedication of the whole family. His wife, after completing the housework, heads over to the store to help with the orders and assist customers.

His desire to start a store came from experiences in his childhood, as his parents sent him to spend holidays with his cousins family and they had a grocery store. Jhon fell in love with the idea and his desire to have his own business became a reality.

Today he wants to improve the presentation of his store in order to make it more palatable to the public and increase demand for his products. The reason he is requesting the loan is to improve the store's image. His greatest dream is to be able to give his family their own home to improve their living conditions.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
