Walter has a strong desire to get ahead. At a very early age he began to work with his father in agriculture. But at age 15, he learned how to butcher pigs, cattle and other animals for human consumption. He is well known in his area, and he also offers his services to other people who seek him to butcher animals. Every day he rises at 4 a.m. to start his workday.
Walter is requesting this loan through Fundación Campo to buy tile, sand, iron and cement and to pay for the labor to build a retaining wall for the home that he recently built of adobe and earth. He says that the retaining wall is necessary to provide security for his home. Walter will use the rest of the loan to buy four pigs to butcher. With the loan, Walter will fulfill one of his greatest dreams, which is to live in his own home with his wife and son, as up until now he has been renting.
