Ana Griselda
Ana is a single mother with a lot of willpower, spirit and desire to better herself and be an example to her two children. With a lot of effort and sacrifice, both of her children are currently studying. One is in kindergarten and the other is studying in the school. Despite having limited resources, her family was able to help her daughter finish primary school. But they were not able to continue supporting her, because their income is very low, and on occasion they were only able to cover basic household necessities like food, medicines and clothes.

Ana does not receive help from the father of her children. But she says that good fortune and the blessing of God have put his mother in her life, who has given Ana a piece of land so that Ana can cultivate it. On this piece of land Ana grows coffee, which she was taught how to do by her parents. Ana’s coffee field is three kilometers from her house, and she travels to it each day on foot.

Ana is requesting a loan to buy fertilizer and manure and to pay for the labor for maintaining and harvesting her coffee crop. As a single mother, she says she is just not able to maintain it. With this loan, she says she will be able to harvest a good coffee crop, and with better results, she can invest the profits in the cultivation of the coffee field.

Ana’s dream is for her children to be educated so that they have better work opportunities and a better quality of life. They could then also support her and help her cover some household and personal necessities, as they are inheriting from all of her current effort and sacrifice for them to get ahead and have her coffee field.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
