Diamaguene is a solidarity group which is made up of 6 woman who are all married. They practise sheep fattening and, each year, buy sheep which they fatten and resell. This earns them quite a consistent income which allows them to take care of their own needs as well as those of their families. The group leader (wearing a yellow t-shirt and holding the sheep) is the mother of 4 children. She supports her husband with their children's living expenses. The group is requesting a loan of 500 000 francs with which to buy sheep.

Ce qui leur rapporte des revenus assez consistants leur permettant de prendre en charge leurs propres besoins ainsi que ceux de leurs familles. Le chef de groupe ( en tee- shirt jaune, tenant le mouton) est mère de quatre enfants. Elle aide son mari à supporter les dépenses d'entretien de leurs enfants. Le groupe sollicite un pret de 500 000f pour acheter des moutons.
This loan is administered by UIMCEC, a Kiva Field Partner in Senegal since 2008. UIMCEC is a government-regulated microfinance institution whose mission is to improve the revenue and well-being of families through access to financial services, allowing principally women and young adult micro-entrepreneurs living in rural and semi-rural areas to develop their revenue-generating businesses and supporting them in becoming financially self-sufficient.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
