Greetings from Peru! This the the Banquito del Ahorro group.

María, 38, is one of the members of the group. She's separated and has three children. María works selling different brands of beauty products. Her buyers are friends, neighbors, and some family members. Another way she generates income for her family is renting rooms in her house, for which she renovated some rooms she has rented.

With the money from her new loan she wants to finish building her second floor to continue setting up more rooms.

She also wants her beauty business to continue to grow and later have a place to sell her products and increase her income.

María is grateful for your help! In the photo she's the one wearing blue jeans and a white blouse.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
