Avelina is 46 years old, married, and has 2 children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She has had a retail business for over 5 years and earns 7,000 Philippine Pesos (PHP) every month.
Avelina joined GDMPC in 2012, and has now requested a loan of 10,000 PHP to purchase additional products to sell like canned goods, coffee, sugar and sticky rice. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand it.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
