Richel, 38, is married with two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental.
To earn a living, she owns and operates a retail business in the local community. She has been in this business for more than four years and earns 27,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) every month.
Richel joined the Gata Daku Multi-purpose Cooperative in 2011. She has now requested a loan of 31,500 PHP to purchase additional products to sell, such as canned goods, coffee, sugar and shampoo. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
