Be is a 41-year-old mother of three children who lives in the Moung Russey district of Battambang Province. Be is a local farmer who grows rice, corn and soybeans. She has been involved in this business for 10 years and earns up to 28,500 KHR per day. This is Be’s fourth loan with VisionFund. She has completely repaid her last loan. It helped her lifestyle to grow at a good pace.
Be is in need of working capital to support her cash crops and is applying for a loan of 4,000,000 KHR. She will use a portion to buy one hectare of rice farming and the rest to support her corn and soybean plantings. She hopes this purchase will expand her agricultural product growing scale and increase her income.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
