Asha is married with four children who attend school. She makes a living as a merchant. She has a business selling clothes in Likoni, Mombasa. She says she started the business more than ten years ago and that she previously worked in sewing. She used the little capital she made to start her business. Currently, Asha has a variety of merchandise she works with day-to-day to make headway for all of her family members. She has decided to turn to Kiva's partner, Yehu Microfinance, and requests a loan to purchase more merchandise because demand is high right now for clothing. Asha is thankful for the loan because it allows her to satisfy all her customers' demands.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
