Fatu lives in Kakata, the capital city of Margibi County, which is the highest producing rubber plantation area in Liberia. She is married with nine children between the ages of 18 and 30 years old, and only three of them are attending school and live at home.
Fatu did not attend grade school but she was able to attend a vocational school where she learned how to manufacture local soap. For the past ten years she has been making and selling local soap in her community and market. She spends five hours making the soap, and she spends six hours to distribute the soap to her customers in the local market. She started this business with money given to her by her husband, She is requesting a loan to purchase more caustic soda, oil, and wood for her soap-producing business. In the near future, she would like to own a house.
