Ruth
Rut, 49, is the mother of two minor children. She loves her family and considers them to be the motor that propels her daily to make the effort to offer them better opportunities and guarantee them a good education.

Three years ago she decided to set up her own business, dedicated to selling stationary. She works daily from 9 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon with the purpose of being able to share more time with her family. She loves what she does and thanks God for the opportunity that he has given her, that of being able to generate her own income.

Today she wishes to be able to improve the selection at her business, which is why she is requesting a loan that she will use to buy stationery so she can satisfy the needs of her clients.

Her biggest dream is to be able to pay for her children's university studies because she believes that will be the best gift she can give them.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
