Teofilo
Teófilo is married and has two school age children. They live in the family home and pay rent; the house is located in the city of El Alto’s Villa Mercedes zone. Teófilo only completed elementary school and he currently works providing inter-city transportation services every day of the week. His route is from the San Pedro section of the city to the Ciudad Satelite stop in El Alto. His wife helps him. They both provide food, clothing and schooling for their children. He needs the loan to service his work tool (a minibus) because classes have started and there are more customers available at the stops. This is the first time he’s requested a loan from IMPRO and from KIVA.

Don Teofilo, es Casado y tiene dos hijos que están en etapa escolar, viven en casa familiar y pagan alquiler, la casa se encuentra ubicada en la zona Villa Mercedes de la ciudad de El Alto.
Teófilo estudió solo hasta el nivel primaria y actualmente se dedica al transporte inter-ciudad trabajando todos los días de la semana, el recorrido de su ruta es desde zona de San Pedro de la ciudad a la parada de ciudad satélite de la ciudad del Alto, le ayuda su esposa, ambos mantienen en su alimentación, vestimenta, y educación de sus hijos.
El crédito lo requiere para el mantenimiento de su herramienta de trabajo (un minibús) ya que comenzaron las clases, y se presenta más afluencia de clientes en las paradas.
Es la primera vez que solicita crédito junto a IMPRO y la primera vez con KIVA.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
