Chea, 58, is a rural villager from Thbaung Khmum district of Kampong Cham Province(Cambodia). She is married and blessed with four children. To make a living, she works for others for a fee and her husband is a barber. Engaging in this business for 40 years, she is able to earn up to 15,000 KHR per day.
Now, Chea is in her third loan cycle with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has fully repaid her past loans, which enabled her to improve her living conditions. Now, she is seeking 2,000,000 KHR in order to buy a decent motorbike for her husband to earn extra income as a paid motor-taxi service provider. She hopes this purchase will help her husband earn more income from this new business and sustain their family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
