This committee came together thanks to one of its members, who invited female friends and neighbours to become a part of this challenge. There are currently 14 women in the group and each one never stops fighting to help their families.

One of the women is Wilma who, by selling groceries, now has the means to continue to help her family. She defines herself as being very hard-working and feisty. She wants to continue making a strong effort to help her family and continue supporting them.

Wilma is applying for this loan to buy flour, eggs, meat, oil, vegetables and other products so as to continue selling groceries. She is thankful for the help she is receiving as it does not just help the group members but also their families.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
