Long
This is Long. She is 33 years old and is married with two children who utterly rely on her care. Long did not complete her education due to her family’s financial constraints at that time. That’s the reason she had to start her family at a very young age. Farming has been the major source of her income. She and her husband own and cultivate on a few pieces of farmland. They realized that the income from farming is not really enough to cover their daily expenses. It has been a tough time for the family and that has encouraged her husband to be involved in the construction field.

All her family members are living in a small house and it is very difficult and uncomfortable for them. She has accumulated a small amount of money and has started building but, unfortunately, she doesn't have enough money to buy all the materials for this construction. She is applying for a loan in the sum of USD 1,200 to buy timber, roofing, and floorboards for the completion of her house. She really appreciates all the help she will get from Kiva lenders.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
