Solanh, a diligent local peasant residing in Moung Russey district of Battambang Province, is 34 years old and also a mother of three schoolchildren. To deal with the daily basic needs of the family, she manages three hectares of rice crops and four hectares of corn; it is the business that she has been with for more than six years.
This is the first loan for Solanh with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She is applying for 4,000,000 KHR in order to buy fertilizer and to pay a plowing fee for her family. She hopes to grow her rice fruitfully and healthily, so she can multiply her income and support her children’s education gradually.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
