Ry is 53 years old and a citizen from Battambang province(Cambodia). She is married and has 8 children. Currently, only four of her children still count on her as they are students in the local state school. To manage the daily cost of living, she has been growing corn and rice for more than 13 years.
Including this loan, she has taken 4 loans with VisionFund(Kiva’s partner) and has completely repaid her past loans. Her subsequent loans have supported her business and gradually uplifted her lifestyle. Now, she is seeking a loan for 4,000,000 KHR. She will use her loan to buy fertilizer for her two cash-crops. She hopes to make additional income from her current business so that she can keep her four children in school until the tertiary level.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
