Jorge, 37, is married and has two children. He lives in a village that belongs to the municipality of Taulabe. He’s always worked in agriculture, especially growing coffee, but two years ago he started a new activity: raising pigs to sell live and to sell pork and raising fish. He already has a market for his products. He’s gotten several ODEF loans to invest in his business and he’s currently requesting his 5th one for 10,000 Lempiras he’ll use to buy supplies (feed, vaccines, etc.) needed to care for and fatten up the pigs. This investment will help him sell at a better price and his income will thus be higher. His goal is to increase his businesses in order to improve his family’s living conditions.
