Saren is aged 27 years and married with one young son. She lives in a rural village of the Pursat province’s Bakan district earning a living through farming rice while her husband works as a teacher to support their family. Together, they earn about 16,000 KHR per day and manage to save money for future needs as well.
Saren has been with VisionFund for three cycles and has completely paid back her past loans. Now, she is applying for a loan of 2,500,000 KHR to renovate her old house and use a portion of it to spend on buying chicken and ducks to raise in order to earn additional income for her family. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a proper house.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
