Residing in Kandal province of Cambodia, Kimhoeurn is a widowed mother of one schoolgirl. To sustain her family, she grows paddy rice and mango on a half hectare of farmland each. The 35 years’ experience in this business generates about USD 9 per month. Now, Kimhoeurn is in her fourth loan cycle. The past loans that she has fully repaid back have enabled her to support both cash crops timely and relieved her family’s burden progressively. With this newly requested loan, she will use her loan portion as a group leader to buy mango seedlings and to buy fertilizer for her rice cropping. She hopes to gain more yield and sell at a good price so that she can cover her children’s education until the university level.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
