Kou, a 34-year-old single mother of four schoolchildren ranging in age from 2 to 14 years, lives in Magibi county, which has the largest rubber plantation in Liberia. For the past ten years Kou has been selling rice, cookies, flour, sugar, etc. in the local market, enjoying a large customer base and good profits. She is requesting a loan to purchase more of the above items for her business. Her plans are to build her house and educate her children.
