Nietaton Group

The four members of the group NIETATON live in extended traditional families in the Hamdallaye district of San, circle of SAN, region of Segou (4th administrative region of Mali). They average 42 years of age and three children each, and they know one another as neighbors and through ties of marriage and kinship. They sell miscellaneous merchandise and cosmetic products.

To bolster their working capital, the group members joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. This is their 13th group loan.

Mrs. Kadia (standing first from the left and wearing a white scarf) specializes in the sale of cosmetic products. She plans to use her loan to buy 2 kg of magnokisseni, ½ kg of djekalani and over 24 bottles of perfume to prepare incense. She mixes up the ingredients and after a week or so, she pours the mixture into bottles. She buys her supplies from wholesalers in SAN, and she conducts her sales at retail from her home and in office buildings, for cash or credit, to a clientele consisting of both men and women.

With this loan, Mrs. Kadia expects to earn an average monthly profit of 20,000 FCFA, which she will use to reinvest in her activity and to cover household expenses.
Toutes mariées dans des familles traditionnelles élargies, les quatre femmes du groupe NIETATON ont en moyenne 42 ans et 3 enfants. Elles habitent toutes le quartier Hamdallaye de SAN cercle SAN dans la région de Ségou (4ème région administrative du Mali) et se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, de mariage et de parenté. Elles font la vente de divers articles et de cosmétiques.
Dans le but d’augmenter leurs fonds de commerce, les membres du groupe ont intégré Soro Yiriwaso et sont à leur 13e prêt solidaire.
Madame, Kadia (1ere personne debout de la gauche vers la droite avec foulard blanc au coud) excelle dans la vente produits cosmétiques. Elle compte utiliser son prêt pour acheter, 2 kg de magnokisseni ½ kg de djekalani et plus de 24 bouteilles de parfum pour la préparation de l’encens. Après avoir faire le mélange pendant plus d’une semaine elle les mets dans les bouteilles de mayonnaise. Elle s’approvisionne auprès des grossistes de SAN. Elle effectue ses ventes au comptant, en détail et à crédit à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes, à domicile dans les bureaux.
Avec ce prêt, Madame Kadia espère réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 20000 FCFA qui sera utilisé pour être réinvesti dans l’activité et prendre en charge des besoins du foyer.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
