Sarun, a 43-year-old married woman residing in a rural village of the Pursat Province’s Kror Kor District, has eight children. Four children are dependent on her and still in school. She earns a living by planting rice and various kinds of vegetables. Having been in this business for ten years, she can earn about 20,000 riels (KHR) per day and can save about 10,000 KHR each day for future needs.
Sarun has just started with VisionFund this cycle. Now she is requesting a loan of 1,500,000 KHR. With this loan, she is going to buy a plot of farmland. She hopes to earn more income so as to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
