Sokhorn, 33, lives in a rural village of the Kandal province’s Kandal Stoeng district. He is single.
To earn a living, he has been farming rice for five years. To complement the income from rice farming, he also raises pigs. The current business earns him about 20 US$ per day but he can manage to save about 10 US$ each day after daily expenses.
Sokhorn is a first-cycle client with VisionFund. He is applying for a loan. With this loan, he will buy pig feed to nourish them. He hopes that this loan will enable him to fatten his pigs so that he can sell them for a high price to improve his standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
