Fred is a hard-working 53-year-old married man who lives in Kyenjojo-Uganda. He has five children, all of whom attend school He acquired his start-up capital from rental income. He opened a retail shop where he sells general merchandise to the people in his village and the surrounding areas. Fred is a very honest businessman but is challenged by inadequate capital and price fluctuations due to inflation, which lead to high prices for commodities. In the future, he wants to become a wholesaler and open up new outlets in the nearby urban centers. Fred is applying for the loan to purchase sugar, soap, rice, salt and cooking oil to sell.
