Lucille, age 56, is a farmer, earning a living by planting and harvesting spinach. She has operated her business for the past five years and earns PhP 9,000 each month. She lives with her husband and their four children in Clarin, Misamis.
Lucille has been a member of GDMPC since 2009. She has requested a loan in the amount of PhP 13,000, which she will use to purchase fertilizer, such as manure and pesticide.
She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
