Najib is a 51-year-old married man from Lebanon. He is living with his wife and three children, two of whom are working and the other still attending school.
In the year 2000, in order to supplement the family’s income, Najib decided to start his own work as a farmer. His job consists of cultivating olive trees in addition to different kind of fruits. In parallel, he started to work in a local company fourteen months ago.
Today, Najib is asking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to purchase the required agricultural tools and supplies. He states that the loan will certainly help him increase his business productivity by a large percentage, which will return higher profits to him.
In the future, Najib plans to open a shop where he can sell his harvested goods.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
