Yon is 49 years old and a mother of two children. She lives in Dambae district, Kampong Cham province. She manages three hectares of cassava growing, with assistance from her husband, in order to ensure the survival of her family. The current business has enabled her to save about USD 4 per day, after deducting the living expenses.
For Yon, this is the second loan with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. Her first loan supported her business in a timely manner. Since she is again in need of working capital to support her businss, she is applying for a new loan. For this loan cycle, she will again use her funds to pay for labor, for weeding of her cassava field. She hopes to increase the yield, so that she can maintain her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
