The FUENTA DE VIDA community bank is starting its twenty-fifth round of funding with Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Panamericana. The community bank has eight members and is led by a board headed by its president, Sra. Alejandra. The members operate a range of businesses that include: clothes-making, grocery sales, cloth weaving, crafts sales and juice sales.

This loan will benefit the small businesses of Sra. Alejandra and the community bank's other members. Sra. Alejandra started working with Pro Mujer 16 years ago, after she was invited to join a community bank by a friend who was a member. Now she has her own sweater-making business and she wants us to know that she learned the business on her own initiative.

Sra. Alejandra will use this loan to buy wool for making sweaters. She will buy the wool at a market in La Paz, cart it back to her town and use it to make sweaters. The income that she will make from selling the sweaters will make it possible for her to support her family. She is married and has three children.

When we asked her what she likes about Pro Mujer, she told us that she likes that she can arrange medical visits through the institution.
