Jovenes Emprendedores Group
Carmen Luz is one of the group members. She is 46, separated and has two grown children. She knits winter sweaters, scarves and hats. She started this business 6 years ago, learning from one of her friends who does it. On the weekends she sells drinks in a park near her house. Thanks to her work she has been able to help her kids so that they can continue their studies.
The loan will be invested in the purchase of drinks for the summer, since she wants to increase this business to meet her demand. Carmen Luz feels very happy about everything she has achieved, and in the future would like to stop selling on the street and have a store of her own to sell drinks. Carmen Luz is very grateful for the loan and for the Kiva investors, who make it possible for her and her group to get their loans.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
