Nelie is a 64-year-old widow with three children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. Nelie is a farmer, and she owns a plot of land where her coconut and banana trees are planted. She has been doing this for 20 years, and every month she earns 4,500 PHP from this work. She has requested a loan of 5,000 PHP to purchase farm chemicals. Nelie has been a member of GDMPC for 6 years. Nelie hopes to have a better future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
