Archil lives in the village of Breti, Kareli district. He is 49 years old and lives with his wife Manana and two sons (17 and 15 years old). Archil and Manana are in charge of the family agricultural business. The children go to a local secondary school.
Archil’s family earns on average 600 Laris per month from agricultural activities. They have three milk cows and a calf. Dairy products (mainly traditional Georgian cheese) are sold on the local market. Along with the above-mentioned, Archil’s family owns approximately 2.5 ha of agricultural land, where garlic, tomatoes and onions are grown. The harvested vegetables are sold locally.
It’s now the season for sowing vegetables and Archil needs a loan to cultivate the land and purchase tomato seeds and fertilizers. Archil hopes that after fertilizing he will have good harvest. The earned profit will be used to cover the house renovation expenses and hence the living conditions of the family will be improved.
