Parvana is a 45-year-old woman who runs a private business. She is a market vendor and her primarily activity is selling food products. She has been selling different kinds of goods such as yoghurt, sausages, candies, cookies and macaronis for the last 10 years. She is responsible for her two daughters and a son.
Her business brings her a stable income of about 300 AZN. Her daughter helps to sell products from the shop. Parvana would like to increase her income and for this purpose she applied for 1,800 AZN. She will use this loan to diversify and purchase more products for her shop. This will be her fifth loan and she has had a good loan history since 2003.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
