Nhoeb,42, is married and blessed with four children. She and her husband overcome the family's hardships via two hectares of rice cropping and one hectare of cucumber planting. To better feed the family, this couple also catches fish to sell. For the years that she has engaged in this business, she has been able to earn up to 20,000 KHR per day. Including this cycle, she is a fourth-time borrower with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She has fully paid back her loan, which helped her sustain her paddy growing and fish catching endeavors and gradually earn a good income. Now, she wants to buy fertilizer for her farm. Therefore, she is seeking a new loan with VisionFund again. She hopes that she can boost her cash-crop productivity and receive a larger crop output to earn a higher income for her family’s sake.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
