Moses
Moses lives in the Likoni area of Central Province, Kenya. He is a married farmer. He started the business through his own savings two years ago. Moses has been a farmer planting tomatoes and mangoes. He is also formally employed.

Moses learned about Milango through a friend who invited him to the group, and he joined the group with an aim of accessing credit to better his business operations. The main challenge he faces is seasonal weather and a harsh climate.

Moses is applying for a loan of 10,650 Kenya shillings to buy seedlings, fertilizers and beehives. His extra income from the loan will be added to the savings to expand the business. His future plan in five years time is to have increased the area under cultivation up to four acres.

More information about this loan

This loan is offered by Milango in partnership with Honey Care Africa to finance the purchase of beehives. Small-scale farmers who take out these loans will receive them in-kind in the form of Honey Care Africa beehives. That organization also provides farmers with training in commercial beekeeping and buys their honey at a guaranteed price to package and sell. Farmers can repay their loans with the proceeds made from selling the honey and continue to generate consistent, reliable income.
