Ashford is aged forty, a farmer in Nkubu county in Kenya, where he lives with his wife and three children who are all schooling. He has been in farming for over twenty-five years, producing horticultural crops and cereals. He would like to venture into dairy goat farming.
He is requesting a 20,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase dairy goats whose milk he will sell and earn extra income to help in uplifting his living standards and pay for his children's schooling. He aspires to be the leading goat's milk provider in his area in the next five years.
Lack of enough animal feed, animal diseases and poor climate are his major challenges in farming.
Ashford is grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for its faster way of processing loans.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
