Nancy is aged thirty-six and a farmer in Nkubu county in Kenya where she lives with her husband and two children. Only one child has started schooling. She has been in farming for the past seven years producing bananas, tobacco, maize, beans, vegetables and milk which she sells at the local market in her area.
She is requesting 70,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase equipment for processing bio-gas which will help improve her living standards. She aspires to have bought one extra acre of land in the next five years.
Poor climatic conditions, inflation, pests and diseases are her major challenges in farming.
She is thankful to Juhudi Kilimo for enabling her to fight poverty.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
