Trinidad is from Bobongan, Ramon Magsaysay. She is 52 years old, married and has six children. To make a living, Trinidad makes and sells bamboo mats (sawali) to tourists and local community members. Trinidad has been engaged in her business for seven years and earns 5,000 PHP a month for these activities.
In 2009, Trinidad joined GDMPC. Trinidad is requesting a loan of 10,000 PHP which will be used to purchase bamboo for manufacturing 'sawali'. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve her family's general living conditions.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
