Thysan's main source of income comes from his rice production business. He is 47 years old, married, and has five children. He is from Sumirap, Tangub City. He has been farming for 10 years and earns 10,000 PHP a month. In 2011, Thysan joined GDMPC. Thysan is requesting a loan of 40,000 PHP which will be used to purchase fertilizers and seedlings for the next cropping. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
