Lucila from San Carlos, Tukuran, Zamboanga Del Sur, is a 60-year-old widow with three children. To make a living, Lucila has owned and operated a dressmaking business for 20 years and earns 9,200 PHP a month.
In 2008, Lucila joined GDMPC. Lucila is requesting a new loan of 10,000 PHP to purchase additional fabric and sewing materials. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
