Sok
A citizen from a rural village in Kampong Cham province’s Tbaung Khmum district, Sok is aged 39 years and married with three children, all of whom are dependents and still in school.

To make a living and support her family, Sok and her husband have been farming rice and planting cassava as a primary business for several years. The current business earns about 25,000 KHR per day, and Sok manages to save about 10,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Sok has been with VisionFund for one cycle and fully repaid the previous loan. The previous loan has helped her to better support her rice paddy in a timely way.

Now Sok is seeking a new loan of 4,000,000 KHR. With this loan, she is going to renovate her old house. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a proper house for her family to live in.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
